Firefly Studios has just launched Stronghold Kingdoms on the Mac App Store, making their popular castle builder the first ever MMORTS available for Mac. Launched on Steam in 2012, Kingdoms is still one of most-played games by current player count. It merges classic Stronghold gameplay with a persistent MMO world, with battles playing out in real-time across a map of medieval Europe.
To assist new Mac gamers in their rise to power, all new Mac players who download the game and sign up for an account before February 14th will receive a free Stronghold Kingdoms Starter Pack featuring $19.99 worth of in-game items:
- 15x Random Packs of Cards
- 2x Exclusive Card Packs
- 2x Research Card Packs
- 200 Card Points
- 4x 7-Day Premium Tokens
In addition, anyone who invites new Mac players to join the game using the in-game "Invite a Friend" feature before February 14th will receive a free pack of Strategy Cards. This offer applies for up to three invited players, who must each download the Mac version and sign up for a Kingdoms account in-game.
The new Mac version of Stronghold Kingdoms features full cross-platform gameplay with more than three million PC users, as well as two years’ worth of post-release updates and content. These range from quests and the introduction of gunpowder to new regions and a "Europe" map featuring 33 different countries. Kingdoms allows players to build castles online in and around their real-life neighborhoods, with countries and continents recreated from real-world geography. With a vast research tree at their disposal, players can specialise and choose their own play style, leading their house to victory on its path to the throne.
