The 1st episode of Life is Strange, from French developers DONTNOD is almost set for launch, and they've released a new trailer. The third and final instalment of the Life is Strange developer diary series is also available now. The dev diary titled "Creating Arcadia Bay" features in-depth details on the sights and sounds you can expect to encounter in Life is Strange, and reveals full details about the licenced soundtrack as well as the names of the voice actors behind Max and Chloe. The DONTNOD team also discuss how they achieved their unique visual style by hand-painting every texture in the game.

The first episode is called "Chrysalis", and it’s basically an introduction to the world of Life is Strange. You will see Max and Chloe reunite and you will make important choices that will influence their destiny. You will see some of the short-term consequences of those choices but bear in mind that there are also mid and long-term repercussions that will pan out over the course of the later episodes, in a butterfly effect manner. So you might rewind your choices as much as you want in the short term but you will never know what might happen further down the line. And of course you'll always be surprised by unexpected turns of events, and can count on a unique experience customized by your choices.
This first episode is also an introduction to the general mechanics of the game, and although Life is Strange emphasizes story and choice over puzzles, you will also see an evolution over the next episodes in terms of how you need to combine different types of interactions and rewinds.
A free trial mode will be available on PS4, PS3, Xbox One, and Xbox 360 so you can get a feel for the game before you make your first meaningful choice: to buy or not to buy the game. But let’s be honest here: at $4.99 you get 2 to 4 hours of gameplay (depending on how you play)…and it’s cheaper than a beer!
And last but not least, you can find links below that will take you to the full soundtrack that features throughout the series of 5 episodes that includes artists such as Alt-J, Jose Gonzales, and Mogwai:
