From Rockfish Games:
Hamburg-based indie developer Rockfish Games proudly announces the full release of its PC and console debut Everspace. After nine months in Early Access and Game Preview, version 1.0 of the action-packed roguelike space shooter is now ready to download for $29.99 / €27.99 / £22.99 on Steam, GOG.com, Xbox One, and the Windows 10 Store. It adds full VR support for HTC Vive and Oculus Rift as well as the long-awaited fully voice-acted story featuring missions, cinematic flashbacks, and cut scenes. The pinnacle of the campaign is an all-new boss fight staged in the completely revamped final sector.
In 2015, Rockfish Games raised €420,252 from 10,739 backers for Everspace, making it the most funded video game on Kickstarter out of Germany. Combined with the continued crowdfunding on the official game website, over €670,000 from more than 17,000 backers were raised. Since the initial Early Access and Game Preview release in September 2016, Rockfish Games has been working closely with the community to further improve the gaming experience and has released four major updates with more than 500 additions, tweaks, and fixes in total. Overall, positive reviews on Steam sit above 85%.
"We were excited about bringing this gorgeous looking roguelike space shooter to Xbox One, right away when we saw an early alpha build at Gamescom in 2015," said Chris Charla, Director ID@Xbox at Microsoft. "The game has come a long way since then and we can’t wait to hear how the full version is received from both the Xbox community and the gaming media alike."
“Everspace is our PC and console debut title and we are super excited to finally roll out the full version today,” said Michael Schade, CEO and co-founder of Rockfish Games. “We couldn’t be more thankful as this would not have been possible without the financial and fantastic ongoing support from our fans as well as the close collaboration with our friends at Epic, GOG, and Microsoft.”
Everspace takes daring space pilots on a challenging journey through six sectors, each featuring multiple procedurally-generated levels full of dangers and treasures. In each run, they will face entirely new situations, continuously testing their skills, experience, and talent for improvisation. Players will find three ships with different capabilities to choose from, plus a wide range of weapons, devices, and consumables at their disposal. Great piloting skills will be needed to stand a chance against various enemies, along with a keen eye for loot and mineable resources, which are used to repair damaged ship components or to craft new equipment and modifications, giving players an advantage in combat and a better chance of making it out of a sticky situation alive.
At the beginning of the campaign, the hero finds himself clueless in the cockpit of a space fighter. After guiding the player through basic training, the onboard AI provides sometimes useful contextual information about the game world and its lore. Through encounters with story characters and memory flashbacks, players will gradually unveil the mystery behind the hero’s existence and his mission. In the final sector, a multi-staged boss fight awaits which will provide the last piece of the campaign puzzle. In the endgame, there is one more important objective to accomplish to reach the final destination of the journey.
All space pilots can already look forward to further content updates and extensions. Some of the most-requested features from the community, like joystick support and full button remapping, will be added first. Simultaneously with the release for PlayStation 4 in Q3 2017, the dedicated Hardcore Mode, featuring true perma-death for all die-hard roguelike fans looking for a new challenge after having beaten the game several times, will come as a free addition. Furthermore, conceptual work has already begun on an extension to be offered for purchase later this year, adding content like new player ships, weapons, and devices, as well as a story expansion featuring new characters.
