From The Square Enix Collective and indie outfit Demimonde:
Demimonde’s Debut Heading to EGX
London, UK - 13 September 2017: Adding a kaleidoscope of colour to its line-up, Square Enix Collective is proud to announce the signing of addictive, vertical action adventure Octahedron by indie outfit Demimonde™.
With play focused around creating your own platforms, players ascend and try to escape from the strange subterranean world of Veetragoul, attracting the attention of and fighting back against peculiar enemies which are out to take you down.
Octahedron’s psychedelic adventure has been turning heads at events for the last couple of years, bringing rhythm-synced action housed within handcrafted levels - all running at a smooth 60fps - to the attention of the eyes and ears at Square Enix Collective in the process.
“It’s very rare indeed to find a platformer that really feels new - and as soon as we played Octahedron we realised it managed just that,” says Phil Elliott, Director of Indie Development at Square Enix London. “The combination of the soundtrack working in tandem with the colours on screen makes taking on Octahedron a real assault on the senses. It really stands out, and is a game you need to play - and listen to - in order to really appreciate.”
Indeed, gamers keen to experience Octahedron’s 2D action in the flesh will get their chance at EGX in Birmingham’s NEC from Thursday 21st September through to Sunday 24th September, with Demimonde’s debut serving as the first game to be officially announced for Square Enix Collective’s largest ever stand at the event.
“I feel like working with Square Enix Collective is going to take Octahedron to the next level,” offers Marco Guardia, the man behind all the action. “I’m really excited to showcase some choice levels from the 50 stages on offer to as many people as possible - it’s always exciting to watch gamers get to grips with the different mechanics behind play right in front of your eyes. EGX should be the perfect place to experience that.”
It’s not just the gameplay that’s turning heads, but also Octahedron’s soundtrack, which features contributions from popular video game composer Chipzel, as well as trance producer and DJ Andre Sobota. Both are delivering a stack of original music designed to perfectly complement the on-screen action.
Octahedron is currently in development for PS4, Xbox One and Steam for PC for release in 2018, with the game set to stand side by side with a diverse range of new and existing Square Enix Collective games at EGX in Birmingham later this month.
