Super Mighty Power Man looked exciting but familiar when it popped up on kickstarter, so much so that some cried "ripoff!"

That said, many were all but salivating at this Mega Man clone, and the climbing kickstarter proved that the title had an audience.

Well, I got good news and... kind of good news, depending on your viewpoint.

If you didn't chip in on the kickstarter, but still wanted to see this game get made, good news! It's fairly certain that the game is going to be completed.

If you paid into the kickstarter, you might be irked, because the kickstarter has been cancelled, citing "publisher interest". This means that they cancelled it due to the fact that they have attracted the interest of enough publishers to feel like they don't need to crowdfund it.

Many gamers are tired of the way that kickstarter seems to just be a barometer for publishers. Basically, they make a lot of noise on kickstarter, money starts getting tossed in, then, when publishers come calling, they cancel the crowdfunding attempt, get a little bidding war going, and end up publishing through one of the big boys.

I am divided. On one hand, sure, it's irksome. You get gamers supporting little games, the games get enough money, then an indie title is born, without having a lot of interference or meddling from one of the big publishing houses. On the other hand, kickstarter is starting to seem (to some) somewhat akin to the minor leagues, when a small team trains a guy, then, right when things are looking good, a big club comes along and snaps them up, leaving the minor league team looking around, wondering what happened.

What do you guys think? Do you care? Is this a problem, or are people just bitching because it's the internet?

Lemme know in the comments.
