It seemed like people either loved RE7, or basically "refused to allow themselves to enjoy it", since it wasn't a "true Resident Evil" title. The game was fun though, which I thought was a hard point to debate, and it was creepy as hell. I fell a little in the middle of those extremes, but in the end, I thought it was a ballsy move to go FPS and a good game, and just because it wasn't a "true" RE game didn't stop me from enjoying it. Also, what is a "true" RE game? RE1? 2? 6? I went along for the ride and loved it.
People who enjoyed the game (or were just able to pretend it wasn't a RE title), will be pleased to hear that the Resident Evil 7: Gold Edition is out today on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Windows PC. This definitive version includes all previously released content, along with all three DLCs: Banned Footage Vol. 1, Banned Footage Vol. 2 and End of Zoe, while Not a Hero is already available as a free download for owners of any version of Resident Evil 7.
If you haven't heard, End of Zoe is a new DLC that reveals Zoe's fate (kind of obvious from the title). Players take on the role of a new character, a mysterious woodsman, who must face off against brand new enemies and explore new swamp-filled terrain.
The free Not a Hero update sees the return of Resident Evil fan favorite and veteran BSAA soldier Chris Redfield. Taking place after the events of Resident Evil 7, this new DLC lets players kick ass as Chris, who is on the hunt to find Lucas Baker (a total dick), in addition to facing brand new threats not seen in the main game.
Nearly all content for PlayStation 4, including End of Zoe and Not a Hero can be enjoyed on PlayStation VR for a more "thrilling and immersive horror experience", and the Gold Edition is available now.
