This is looking more and more like a good time. Kind of a cross between Shadow of the Colossus, God of War and Darksiders, Extinction features massive battles, hand to hand combat and high flying sword swinging insanity.
Promising myriad side missions, a campaign, and various modes, including a wave based survival mode, Extinction takes place in a world that has been at war for as long as anyone can remember. For generations, humans have fought one another for land and riches, while 150 foot tall monsters waited for their chance to strike at the heart of mankind. I guess giant, lumbering monsters are pretty good at being patient. You are one of the world’s last defenders, a warrior named Avil equipped with the skill, speed and strength to oppose the endless wave of Ravenii and prevent a fate worse than death: Extinction.
The video below contains a long look at the game's skills and skill tree, including the Rune Slowdown and Air Recovery abilities. Rune Slowdown allows Avil to essentially freeze time, buying a few precious seconds to focus on the task at hand, generally, whipping giant ass. Air Recovery allows players to regain control when they fall or are knocked down, which helps Avil stay on an ogre long enough to plan your next jump or attack.
Extinction looks like it is on the right track, and it will be available on PS4, Xbox One, and PC in Spring of 2018.
