"Vermintide" sounds like the name of a mediocre metal band, and that's kind of rad. Warhammer fans, you are in for a treat; Warhammer: Vermintide 2 is coming to consoles as well as PC, just like the previous game in the series. PlayStation 4 and Xbox One owners are getting the hookup; so far, there has been no mention of the Switch, and I think that's sad, because this game is already looking pretty rad.
Anytime I can get an FPS where I have something in my hands besides an Uzi or a rifle, I perk up. Shadow Warrior 2 is one of my favorites because there is just something so satisfying about slicing through your enemies while force-feeding them a handful of magic at the same time. It's just good killing. The fact that this title is a co-op, first person, medieval smash em up is just icing on the cake.
In Warhammer: Vermintide 2, you and your allies are the only ones standing against the onslaught of the mighty warriors of Chaos and the hordes of Skaven. Skaven is always tripping. If you fall, so will the Empire, so you gotta pick up your blades and start slicing and dicing. Diplomacy has no place in this game, you talk with blades, or you keep your medieval mouth shut. You can choose from multiple careers for your Hero, climb the talent tree, pick from a vast range of unique weapons and gear, and hack through the ranks of the monstrous invaders. And monstrous they are! Check out the trailer and see some of the hulking baddies you will soon be killing.
Fatshark also announced that the Xbox One X upgrade for Vermintide has gone live, bringing native 4K support, darker shadows, a smoother framerate and enhanced textures.
No release date has been set for the console versions, but Vermintide 2 releases on PC in Q1 of 2018. Pre-orders for the PC version are open now, and console pre-orders will begin sometime next year.
