I'll admit that I post on almost any horror-related game, but I don't think that makes me a bad person. I just really like horror. So sue me if I feel the need to tell you that the German developer teams of VIS-Games and SilentFuture just announced their new indie title, The Nightfall, today, and once again, they are going for slow, atmospheric suspense, which I personally consider the best kind.
They did pretty well (somewhat unexpectedly) with Pineview Drive and Obscuritas, so they are going for it again, hoping to score more of the same suspense-filled, delving-into-the-depths-of-the-human-psyche type atmospheric gameplay as their previous two titles. The Nightfall has you assuming the role of Victoria, who moves to a new city for her new job. Victoria's husband and kids are following her in a few days, so the first couple nights in the new house she is by herself. She finds she can't sleep in the new digs, and her insomnia slowly turns to horror as she fights to stay alive and sane until dawn.
The trailer is less of a trailer and more of a series of moving screenshots with music playing in the background, but check it out anyways, and let's hope this game scores.
The Nightfall for PC will be released on Steam on January 12, 2018, and a Mac version will follow immediately afterwards.
