Based on Hawaiian legend, Nightmarchers come to life on the nights honoring the Hawaiian gods Kane, Ku, Lono, or on the nights of Kanaloa. These otherwordly beings come forth from their burial sites, or rise up from the ocean, and march in a large group to ancient Hawaiian battle sites or to other sacred places. Legend says the Nightmarchers are normal-size warriors, dressed for battle, carrying spears, clubs, and some even beating war drums to announce their march. Apparently, if you hear them, you gotta take your ass inside, lie on the floor and pray to god they don't look you in the eyes.
Riding that legend to the hilt, Wyrmbyte Studios has created Nightmarchers, an open world, post-apocalyptic RPG shooter where you tap into the power of the spirit-world to liberate the Hawaiian island of Oahu from the army that occupies it. Take a look at the video below to get a feel for the gameplay, and check out one of the game's key features; outposts.
As you explore the apocalyptic paradise of Oahu, you will come across various settlements, some of which are overrun by Kamapua'a raiders, while others will be run by the various other factions that have dug in around the island. But it's the Pig God's raiders that can be the most dangerous, and it's Kai's job to clear them out.
In the above clip, we see how powerful the ancient magic of the gods can be as you use your bow and various other powers to take out foes at range. Using your Uhane, or Spirit, you can mark and identify your targets. But if you're looking for something less magical, guns, grenades, and other implements of destruction are available throughout the game as well. It's all up to you how the job gets done.
The Panamax Salvage Site shown above is just one of our many locations in the open world. You can see how flying in as an owl and causing chaos with your weapons will payoff later on, as a host of Kama's possessed followers strive to take you out. If you please the Gods, they will reward you, helping you become more powerful in your fight against the island's enemies.
The video below shows some more gameplay elements, Nightmarchers launches in 2018, on early access for PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4.
