Now this is an idea I thought no one was asking for, but it got green-lit in seven days, so what the hell do I know? And actually, the more I think about it, the idea definitely fills a literary-video-game niche.
In Nantucket, players chase after Moby Dick during the Golden Age of American whaling in this high-seas strategy game. You set sail around the world while managing your ship and crew, living out Ishmael's story, the sole survivor of the Pequod, a few years after the events of Herman Melville's masterpiece. It's time to make sure Moby Dick gets what's coming to him.
You sail around the world, visiting multiple ports while increasing your street cred by hunting whales, landing jobs, and searching out new adventures on the high-seas. You develop your captain the way you want him, increasing stats, picking how you react to situations and developing your skills. You'll have to hire a solid crew, assign them tasks, and pimp out your ship with new compartments which expands your ship's capacities. There are pirates to fight through a turn-based combat system, whales to hunt for their precious blubber and men who are dying for the lash when they slack off.
Nantucket is out January 18th for Steam.
