This is a pretty interesting idea, but I wonder why it took this long to come out; Saw isn't exactly the horror juggernaut that it once was. The basis of Play With Me is pretty much "how would Jigsaw make a video game?" With lots of razors and blood, I would assume.
The game has you assume the role of an investigative journalist named Robert Hawk, who has disappeared under mysterious circumstances, along with his wife, Sara. The police find only their totaled car, and not much else, but the officers fear that a man called "Illusion" may have them, which is really, really not good. Illusion is a merciless serial killer that Hawk has been writing investigative articles about for a long time, and now it is feared that Hawk may have gotten a little too close to his own story, and was abducted by the maniac, along with his wife.
Word has it that Hawk was working alongside a private detective named Patrick Clark, and the pair was close to finding out Illusion's true identity before disappearing. Now, Hawk finds himself in a death trap, and has to, you know, Saw his way out of it. You guys know how the movies work, so I'm assuming you have a pretty idea of what is in store for both you and poor Hawk, who most likely will soon be missing some limbs.
Play With Me wants players enter the world of a dangerous psychopath and see how it feels to slowly descend into madness. Explore a dark world created by a sick, twisted mind and find out who is behind the killings. You won't have to do it alone, however; you can curry favor with the other sad saps that are locked up in a similar situation, and you can even get their help with a bit of manipulation and favors. How will you use the others? Are you ready to sacrifice your friends to get away.
Play With Me is available for Mac, PC and Linux, and you can check out their interactive website which is actually pretty cool, here.
