FoxNext Games just acquired Bay Area-based game developer Cold Iron Studios, who is mainly on the map for MMOs, but their first title will be a shooter set in the cinematic world of Aliens.
Now, I know that we've all been hurt before by Alien games. None of them are really all that amazing and that's a fact. Sure, some aren't terrible, but besides maybe Alien: Isolation, none of the games have really captured what it's like to square off against these stealthy, horrific monstrosities, from Colonial Marines to Aliens: Extermination.
I wish I could calm your fears, and soothe you back to sleep just like your momma, but I can't. What I can do, is give you some very corporate sounding language from Aaron Loeb, the president of studios from Foxnext games.
"Cold Iron Studios has amazing design, craftsmanship and development talent that we are excited to welcome at FoxNext Games as we pursue our goal to build a multi-platform, multi-genre portfolio of great games. I am a personal fan of Cold Iron's previous work and all of us at FoxNext Games are thrilled to be working with them as they create an action-packed persistent world, steeped in the mysteries of this beloved Alien universe."
That's all well and good, but I am more focused on the fact that Cold Iron Studios is rolling deep with industry veterans that have led some large-scale projects, like Neverwinter, Metroid Prime 3, BioShock Infinite, City of Heroes and many others, which is some damn good news.
Maybe we'll finally get that Alien game that we all want.
Nay.
That we all deserve.
