Part II Of The Vampyr Webseries Mixes Sound & ImageVideo Game News Online, Gaming News

We talked a little about this webseries from DONTNOD Entertainment a week ago, and now we have arrived at part two of the highly anticipated action-RPG Vampire title. This video, titled, Dontnod Presents Vampyr - Episode 2: Architects of the Obscure gets even more in-depth, diving into the creative process and showing more gameplay footage, specifically surrounding the choices the creative team made to bring 1918 London to life through sound and image. Two more episodes of this four-part webseries are coming, releasing weekly each Thursday.

In Episode 2: Architects of the Obscure, DONTNOD shows off the areas of London that you will be exploring during your time in the world of Vampyr. Each of the four districts you will prowl through have their own distinct style and groups of citizens, which can flourish or perish depending on your actions- you are a vampire, after all, and vampires gotta eat.

Whitechapel and the Docks are ravaged by poverty and crime, while the West End is packed with the bourgeois, wealthy populace, which sets the stage perfectly for a hungry vampire, and the kind of tough moral choice that the game will be throwing at you. Pembroke Hospital gives Dr. Reid the opportunity to put his medicinal skills to great effect, while tempting the doctor-turned-vampire with helpless citizens that hold him in a position of trust. I have a feeling the whole, "First do no harm" thing is going to go flying out the window here.

This latest webisode also introduces the music of Vampyr, including some insight from composer Olivier Deriviere. He discusses how he developed the game's original score with consideration for its unique setting and atmosphere, as well as how the inner dilemma Jonathan faces translates into the music. Eric-Maria Couturier, of the Paris Ensemble InterContemporain, drives Vampyr's soundtrack as a solo celloist, and this video offers an exclusive performance that showcases his unique style. It's at turns menacing, creepy, thoughtful and dangerous. I'm into it.

Vampyr is set for release this year.
