Cedar Games just announced that its debut title, Z-Alert, a highly-customizable 2D survival-sim role-playing game is on the way for PC and Mac.
Set in a post-apocalyptic world ravaged by the living-dead, you need to scavenge and loot the environment to find useful resources, craft items, use them to construct a shelter, and recruit companions to help defend it against hordes of the undead and other hostile survivors. It's basically last season of The Walking Dead, but let's hope that this game doesn't suck. Traverse hostile terrain and explore dark forests while trying to stay alive while zombies try to crack your head like an egg and eat your face. Promising a focus on a rewarding story full of unforgettable characters and mysteries, Z-Alert has random elements to keep things interesting, like world generation and surprise encounters that don't happen in the same place twice, keeping things nice and fresh for you.
There are character skills and perks to manage, and you can choose between hands-off automated combat, classic 2D skirmishes or tactical isometric encounters, which is pretty cool, allowing you to decide how the undead holocaust goes down. Lead designer, John Nash says that their "Mix of survival RPG and simulation is a pretty special one. What we've been able to show today is just the tip of the pickaxe and I can't wait to reveal more information in the coming months."
You and me both, Johnny boy. You and me both.
