At long last, we've got a release date for the sequel to Red Dead Redemption. Introducing a brand new protagonist, players assume the role of Arthur Morgan and the Van der Linde gang "as they rob, fight and steal their way across the vast and rugged heart of America in order to survive."
It has now been confirmed that Xbox One and PS4 owners will be back in the saddle on October 26, 2018. The company even apologized for the delay, which was a classy move. The game was due Spring 2018, a date which had been pushed from fall of 2017. Rockstar claims they had a good excuse though, releasing this statement:
"We are excited to announce that Red Dead Redemption 2 will be released on October 26 2018. We apologize to everyone disappointed by this delay. While we had hoped to have the game out sooner, we require a little extra time for polish. We sincerely thank you for your patience and hope that when you get to play the game, you will agree the wait will have been worth it. In the meantime, please check out these screenshots from the game. We look forward to sharing a lot more information with you in the coming weeks."
So, there you have it. And really, they didn't even have to apologize. They could have punted the release date to 2020 and you would have gritted your teeth, and continued to hold out a wad of cash.
