The X-Files: Deep State, is available on the App Store, Google Play and Facebook right now, coinciding with the new season of the X-Files television series. Creative Mobile has worked in partnership with Chris Carter (whew), Ten-Thirteen Productions, and FoxNext Games to build a "genuine X-Files experience" based on the series' iconic character-driven mythology. Someone should have worked a little hard to make sure that Mulder didn't look like a drag queen in this thing, but oh well.
The X-Files: Deep State claims to really be going for it, promising fans a "web of deceit, mystery and deadly intrigue, with the familiar X-Files trademarks of paranormal crime investigation, strange monsters, and overarching conspiracies." I mean, sure, go for it, but maybe just pick one or two of those, ya know what I'm saying? It is a mobile game after all.
Instead of playing as Mulder and Scully, you play pretty-new new Jack FBI agent, trying to prove your mettle to the veteran agents, uncovering hidden clues, collecting and processing evidence, solving puzzles and interrogating suspects. Players will also need to confront moral dilemmas that will impact the course of their investigations.
The game will launch with a prologue and 5 unique chapters, which compose the game's first season story arc, with new chapters being added via app updates.
The X-Files: Deep State is available for free from the App Store, Google Play and Facebook, available via all major app stores worldwide.
