Shaq Fu: A Legend Reborn is apparently an attempt to atone for the past, revamping and expanding Shaq-Fu, which, in case you weren't around for, was a terrible beat-em-up featuring Shaquille O'Neil in 1994. I remember playing it, and it was bad, but Shaq was the biggest thing in the world at the time, so there was nothing they wouldn't let him try.
But now, after a successful kickstarter, Shaq Fu: A Legend Reborn is trying to bring the series back with this intense beat ‘em up where players (of course) assume of the role of Shaq as he fights his way through the hordes of hell and Hollywood. The devs are really leaning into the knowledge that the original game was terrible (as you can see in the self-deprecating trailer), which is smart; there's no pretending that game was anything but awful, and you might as well embrace it.
There will be devastating combos to master, and a host of weapons you can use to dole out punishment, like katanas, shuriken and baseball bats, which you can use to battle a bevvy of outlandish celebrity bosses. You can also channel Shaq’s alter egos, which you will probably not remember at all: Big Daddy O and Big Diesel.
“We know diehard fans have been waiting eagerly to experience the hard-hitting action of this new take on Shaq Fu, and we’re excited to team up with Wired Productions to get the game physically into the hands of players this spring,” said Saber CEO Matt Karch.

Shaq Fu: A Legend Reborn will arrive this spring for PS4, Xbox One, PC and the Switch.
