Capcom's strange but gorgeous action adventure game, Okami is officially coming to Nintendo Switch as per a Nintendo Direct broadcast. Okami HD will launch digitally on the eShop this summer, and you can see how the touch screen controls will work in handheld mode in the trailer below (you can use the Joy-Con controls in TV mode for the Celestial Brush).
Set sometime in classical Japanese history, Okami combines several different Japanese myths, legends and folklore to tell the story of how the land was saved from darkness by the Shinto sun goddess, named Amaterasu, who took the form of a white wolf. It features a distinct sumi-e-inspired cel-shaded visual style and the Celestial Brush, a gesture-system to perform miracles. The game was initially planned to use more traditional realistic rendering, but this had put a strain on the graphics processing of the PlayStation 2. Clover Studio switched to this cel-shaded style to reduce the processing required, which directly created the concept of the Celestial Brush gameplay mechanic.
This latest announcement allows Okami to continue its console domination, as it's currently already available for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Wii, PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3 and PC.
Okami HD will be available this summer.
