Planet Alpha is a new, atmospheric, side-scrolling platform adventure game from Team 17 and Adrian Lazar, which looks to combine fast platforming, creative puzzles, stealth mechanics, and a weird, quirky art style to bring their wondrous alien world to life.
The story doesn't give you much to go on from the gate: you awake on a strange alien world that's home to all types of mysterious, exotic flora and fauna. As you explore the strange planet, you discover the ability to rotate and control the planet, uncovering a dangerous element under the seemingly tranquil, beautiful world.
Adrian Lazar previously worked on Hitman (2017), Hitman: Absolution and Kane and Lynch 2: Dog Days, and now he is teaming with Team 17 to bring his game to life. He had this to say about the upcoming title and the partnership:
“Planet Alpha is the work of passion of a small but very ambitious team. We are building something special and we’re putting everything we have into it. Developing the game for over 4 years has been a roller coaster, so when we looked for a publisher we were very selective. I am thrilled to have found in Team17 a partner who can offer us the resources that we need to bring this game to the players, but more importantly I'm excited to have a partner that truly believes in PLANET ALPHA as much as we do. I cannot wait to share our creation with the world.”
Take a look at the trailer below, this game looks like it could turn into something special. Planet Alpha is coming to Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Switch and PC in 2018.
