Oh, Might & Magic. I have many, many fond memories of rage quitting this game as a child, unable to grasp the nuances of the systems and combat, but damned if I wouldn't go right back the next day, trying in vain to beat it. I never did, but I had a lot of fun trying. Then, a few months ago, I bought a couple of the titles off a Humble bundle sale, thinking that older me would breeze through, smash those griffins and goblins, then sleep the sleep of the just. That did not happen. What happened was, I got my ass kicked all over again, I rage quit, and went to bed seething.
Damn you, Might & Magic.
You'll be pleased or pissed to know that now, Ubisoft has resuscitated the beloved series, but in a different form. Called Might & Magic: Elemental Guardians, this iteration of the RPG is a mobile game, with four player teams, little monsters and creatures to find and collect and waves of enemies to kill. Promising a "fast-paced strategic battle RPG" this mobile game has an elemental system (think Pokemon), a way to evolve and level your creatures and more. There will be a single player campaign and a competitive PVP mode, and players can level their team and customize their Hero avatar as they move through the game. Definitely not what we're used to from the series.
Pre-registration is now open for Might & Magic: Elemental Guardians at mightandmagic.com, and the game is set for release on May 31, 2018 on the App Store and Google Play.
