Bethesda Announces Summerset, The New Chapter Of Elder Scrolls OnlineVideo Game News Online, Gaming News

Last month, Bethesda Softworks announced Summerset, the newest chapter in The Elder Scrolls Online (ESO for cool kids), and now we've got a new gameplay video that shows off more of the mysterious land you will be smashing faces in. There is an age gate, so you'll have to sign in, but it's worth the two seconds it takes to do so.

In ESO: Summerset, players will explore the home of the High Elves in the biggest chapter yet, a place that hasn't been shown off since 1994, in Elder Scrolls: Arena. What do you want to bet the place has been spruced up a bit graphically since '94?  ESO: Summerset features an "epic main story, new abilities, returning villains, and a whole lot more," claims Bethesda, who would say anything to sell more games.

The plot goes a little like this: for the first time in history, the Isle of Summerset has been opened to the outside world by the decree of Queen Ayrenn, who may or may not be "trippin". Newcomers can explore the forests, tropical lagoons, and ancient coral caves in this new zone that expands further than players have gone before in this online world. You can hunt down the mysterious Psijic Order, a secret society of mages on the island of Atraeum for a new skill line and abilities, then climb Summerset's highest peak to the city of Cloudrest, and band together to tackle enemies in a challenging 12-player trial.

The Elder Scrolls Online: Summerset
(is it just me, or does the "the" in front of Elder Scrolls seem pretentious?) is coming to PC and Mac on May 21 and Xbox One and PlayStation 4 on June 5.
