One of the first games I bought from FASA back in the day was a game called Battledroids, and it was awesome. That old school title from my childhood has evolved into the Battletech we all know and love today, a series where giant robots clash against one another on futuristic battlefields, which we all know, is totally badass. Now, the folks over at Paradox Interactive are taking a swing at the Battle universe with their latest title, simply called Battletech.
You are a mercenary who controls of a group of four mechs, taking jobs from the highest bidder in order to finance your operation. You will need to coordinate and plan your attacks carefully, as the AI in this game is ruthless and pretty adept at turning your mech into a pile of burning, twisted metal.
Taking place in the Aurigan reach, this sector of space is on the outskirts of the Inner Sphere. There, the Aurigan coalition, a monarchy that is ruled by the Arano family, hires you to take on a variety of missions. There are a ton of ways to customize your character, giving him a bit of a backstory and selecting each bit gives you a bonus in certain skills. So, for instance, if you choose to have your past include being exiled after your sixteenth birthday, you will be given a +1 bonus to gunnery and tactics.
Battletech is set for an April 24th, 2018 release date and we will have a review of the game when it goes live! For more information on this game and its features head over to www.battletechgame.com and get ready to command your lance and kick some robotic ass.
