Riposte Games & Co and Furnace Games just dropped their new side scrolling hack & slash dungeon crawler, Dungeon Stars in early access on Steam right now for $15 bones, and they are trying to lure players with their sweet new launch trailer.
Billed as an "explosive evolution of the classic dungeon crawler with addictive button-smashing action", Dungeon Stars is set in a 3D world populated by lovable 2D animal characters, with rapid progression and procedurally generated levels. There are 15 heroes to find, each with their own unique powers and quests, and you can swap between up to three of them at a time, teaming them up for various challenges with character specific results. The combat system looks simple but robust, with players able to block, shield break, unleash special rapid attacks to deal damage as fast as possible, in addition to gaining special abilities that are best saved for the many boss battles you'll come across in the dungeons.
You'll also be able to level your heroes to unlock more abilities and boost their stats, equip magic gems and even pets to help you along, in over 40 different adventures with random encounters, secret rooms and various loot that is all procedurally generated to encourage randomness and replay.
Take a look at the trailer below to get a feel for the gameplay, or head over to Steam and shell out $15 to try it yourself in Early Access.
