Red Dead Redemption 2 is the hotly anticipated follow up to Rockstar's smash-hit western, and we finally got a new trailer and some more info on the upcoming title. Players take on the role of Arthur Morgan, the right hand man of Dutch, leader of the Dutch van de Linde’s gang, you must keep the gang in line (as much as you can keep a gang of murderous bastards in line) as you flee a robbery gone wrong, on the move with a bounty on your heads. Law enforcement is closing in, and it's your job to keep everyone supplied and fed, and keep the disparate group of personalities from turning on each other. Did I mention that it seems like the player character is having a crisis of conscience?
The gang is holed up near New Hanover, described as a “living community [that's] constantly changing.” The gang consists of 5 main members with some other bit characters as well. The 5 main members are: Sean McGuire, Uncle, Bill Williamson (from Red Dead Revolver), Lenny, Karen, and others. Each member goes about their day at camp, with their own duties to take care of, be it washing clothes or stacking up firewood. When everyone does their job, things run smoothly. When they don't things start to get strained.
There's also a group morale system in place, where morale rises and falls based on how full the pantry is. If there's plenty of game and supplies, everyone is happy, which is largely dependent on you. If game is scarce, the men get pissed, and you have to deal with it. plenty of resources are available, morale is high. When Morgan is a good provider, he will be rewarded. Should food run low, folks will get grumpy and he’ll know about it.
Take a look at the trailer below, the graphics look amazing, and if you aren't excited, you should be. Rockstar rarely disappoints.
Red Dead Redemption 2 will be released for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on October 26.
