Fans howled in outrage when Bandai Namco delayed the Switch version of Dark Souls Remastered until this summer, but hey; what can you do? Besides complain that one of the best games of all time is getting a sweet ass next gen remaster but it's taking too long, obviously. There is a light at the end of the tunnel, though! Besides sitting there, using their chubby little baby fists to wipe away big ol crocodile tears of rage cuz they aren't getting what they want NOW, DAMMIT, NOW, fans who have an Xbox or PS4 in addition to their Switch do have something to look forward to: the Dark Souls Remastered network tests, which are set to run from May 11th to May 12th on Xbox One and PS4 (no PC tests have been announced yet).
According to Bandai Namco, the network test will be limited to Dark Souls' Undead Parish area. You remember that place, right? The brutal section that ends with the painfully frustrating Bell Gargoyle fight, where I had to use every one of my goddamn items to defeat the boss? Yeah, you remember it. God knows I do.
If you want in on this hot fire, download the appropriate network test client from the PlayStation Store or Xbox Store, depending on what you've got. Listen up though, because this is important: the client will only be available between May 1st and 10:59 BST/11:59pm PDT on May 8th. If you didn't downloaded the client by then, you won't have the pleasure of seeing "YOU DIED" a 1,00 times in a row, despite knowing how to play the game and what the enemies are going to do. Friggin Dark Souls. How I love to hate you.
It's a little odd that there's no mention of PC tests yet, especially since the PC version is still scheduled to release alongside the PS4 and Xbox One versions on May 25th. The Switch release, which launches "later this summer" will have network tests closer to its release.
The network test will comprise of two six hour sessions, one on Friday, May 11th, and the other on Saturday, May 12th. Time slots are region-specific, so the UK test will kick off at 5pm and end at 10:59pm in the UK. In the US, the sessions will start at 6:00pm PDT and finish at 11:59pm.
