In the wake of the sort of cancellation of the M. Night Shyamalan Tales From The Crypt reboot, this is welcome news for horror fans. If you somehow don't know, this guy has been responsible for giant action pics like Pacific Rim, but most of what he's done has been rooted in the supernatural and the creepy, from The Devil's Backbone, Hellboy, Pan's Labyrinth, The Shape of Water, and Trollhunters, so this is going to be an awesome fit. Titled, Guillermo del Toro Presents 10 After Midnight, the series will have del Toro selecting horror stories that will be featured on the show, but he will also be writing and directing some episodes. The series is the first horror anthology for Netflix.
In a report broken by Deadline, del Toro will be re-teaming with Shape of Water co-producer J. Miles Dale, and together, the pair will “hand pick a team of top horror writers and new filmmakers to bring his selection of stories to life.” Del Toro is also working on an interesting project for CBS, making a film based on the Still More Scary Stories To Tell In The Dark, a freaky set of horror anthologies that I remember reading as a kid. While not too bloody or explicit (they were kids books), I remember a few of the tales distinctly, and I must have read all that in the 4th grade or so.
There is no release date as of yet for Guillermo del Toro Presents 10 After Midnight.
