GreedFall is the latest RPG from Spiders, the company who developed Faery: Legends of Avalon, as well as the console ports of Sherlock Holmes vs. Jack the Ripper, and The Testament of Sherlock Holmes adventure games. There are plenty of new RPGs floating around (especially this time of year), but Greedfall's setting looks amazing, and the mix of old school muskets, swordplay and magic looks both beautiful and unique.
A mysterious island has been discovered by colonial forces from several nations (all from fictional lands) who are fleeing their continent which is plagued by pollution and an incurable disease. The remote, magical island is in the middle of escalating tensions between the invading settlers and the locals, who are protected by manifestations of the island's earthly magic in the form of supernatural beings. You assume the role of a Human who has recently arrived at the island, where you are able to ally yourself with either the native Elves who inhabit the land or any of the foreign nations competing to conquer and colonize the "new" land. Set in the 17th century, Greedfall's "visual identity is inspired by European Baroque art, depicting grandiose scenes in muted warm colors and dark undertones."
In short, the game looks amazing.
Give this E3 Trailer a look- there's no gameplay, but the video shows off the origins of GreedFall's story, as settlers, mercenaries and treasure hunters, arrive at the island. Spiders says that the island of GreedFall is a living, ever-evolving world, and your actions, from trivial choices to the most important political decisions, will influence and alter its course, as well as the relationship between the different factions established on the island.
GreedFall releases on PS4, Xbox One, and PC in 2019.
