A Plague Tale: Innocence is an upcoming adventure title being developed by Asobo Studio, and it is... pretty gross.
The game follows two children who are siblings, the oddly named Amicia and young Hugo, as they struggle through the heart of the brutal and ruthless world of 14th century France. With a disease that looks a whole lot like the black death ravaging the country, you'll steer the two kids who really should have someone watching them through disease-devastated villages, countrysides and battlefields, dodging the rats that are devouring everything in their path, from trash to men and animals as they increase their numbers and satisfy their hunger. The only thing keeping them from chomping on the children is the faint glow of the candle Amicia holds; lose the flame, and it's rat city for the kids.
The trailer below shows off more of the world you'll be inhabiting, which is both repulsive and beautiful, depending on whether or not you are looking directly at the rats that are eating some dude's face. The gameplay will blend adventure, action and stealth, supported by an emotional story, as the two kids try to survive in this plague infested world.
A Plague Tale: Innocence arrives on PS4, Xbox One and PC in 2019.
