This is an interesting title that's been drumming up some attention among Switch owners, as this is exactly what the Switch was designed for; out of the box ideas with a large amount of possible players getting in on the fast paced fun.
Killer Queen Black is a strategic, eight-player, arcade-action platformer from Liquid Bit and BumbleBear Games that has a glam rock-inspired, 16-bit pixel art-style and ‘80s themed metal tunes. Still with me? Good.
Here's how this thing works: one player on each side takes on the role of the Queen, and the others play as drones. The game is mainly about reflexes and tactical planning, as you try to crush your insect opponents, with the queen using her stinger to defend herself and attack, but paying for her offensive capabilities and additional agility with limited lives.
Drones, on the other hand, are the best units for the job when it comes to completing non-violent, game-winning objectives. Drones begin unarmed, but you can trade in berries scooped up on the battlefield to become little bee warriors, with their offensive capabilities determined by which "gate" they enter- some gates provide things like speed boosts, while others will give your insect warriors new weapons, including maces, lances, swords, shields, and laser rifles. Queens can stop this transformation by simply flying over the gates to claim them for her team.
“As lifelong arcade-goers, the phenomena that Killer Queen has become has been incredible to experience,” said Matt Tesch, co-founder of Liquid Bit. “Bringing the game to Nintendo Switch and PC is surreal and we’re eagerly anticipating watching new competitors battle for the Black team.”
Killer Queen Black will bee available digitally Q1 2019, check out the metal trailer below.
