A recent change from Valve Corp. (originally caught by a sharp-eyed reddit user) is changing how some game's achievements work. Steam has alerted developers that certain games available in the Steam marketplace will now have their achievements cut to 100, in addition to other constraints to combat fake games.
Despite claiming that this isn't a wide-spread problem (they called the amount of users abusing this "insignificant"), they are making the change nonetheless.
At the end of the day, sure, achievements are somewhat silly, but they're an important part of gaming, basically a digital claim to bragging rights. Despite having no real world value or impact, it's an important part of gaming these days, and Steam seems to want to protect your trash-talking rights.
