The Creative Assembly is known for making fantasy-based jaunts into the world of Warhammer, but this go around, they've chosen real history as the bedrock for the new Total War game. Their previous games have given players the opportunity of wage war in the old historical periods and settings of places like Feudal Japan, medieval Europe and the Roman Empire, but this time, Total War is introducing something new with the Three Kingdoms. This will come with some new twists in gameplay, the Han dynasty, new generals and some new mechanics.
While this isn't drastically different from the previous games, the setting and period are. The series will retain the massive battles, open environments and warfare and diplomacy options, but there will be some new tricks up their sleeve this time around. Creative Assembly hasn't yet disclosed the specific details about the new diplomatic options that the players will get, but more information is likely coming soon. In the meantime, one thing that has been announced are the MOBA like heroes in the form of generals that players can carry over from Warhammer. These generals will be stronger and possess buffs that can turn the tide of battle, and the new social system will allow the generals to build relationships with one another.
Total War: Three Kingdoms is set for a spring 2019 release.
