Bandai Namco just announced that they are going to push the release date of their upcoming Dark Souls follow up, much to the wailing of almost everyone in the gaming world.

If you want to read all the jargon that basically just says "We need more time," then here ya go, straight from the mouth of Eric Hartness, Vice President of Marketing for Bandai:

"Code Vein has received an enormous amount of positive feedback from eager fans who have received hands-on time with in-development versions of the game over the past nine months. Armed with knowledge of how well the game has already been received, we made the decision to postpone the release of Code Vein to further refine its gameplay in an effort to exceed the expectations fans already have of the title. It was a difficult decision to make, but we feel it is the correct one."

The release date is now getting pushed to an unspecified time in 2019 from the previously announced date of September 28, 2018.

On a side note, I'm really getting fed up with the lingo and bullshit they have to push out just to say they need more time. I'm not talking about just Bandai, I'm talking about everyone. "Refine its gameplay in an effort to further exceed the expectations..." and "Armed with the knowledge of..." For God's sake, just say that you need more time to make the game more badass. Here's how I would write that press release, and I did PR for years (poorly).

"You want this game to be badass? We do too. We need more time to make this game a wrecking ball of goodness. Chill-out, play one of the billion other games out there, and trust us. Have we ever screwed you before? Didn't think so. -Love, Bandai"

It's as simple as that, and I bet gamers would appreciate the straight language for once.

Here's the official synopsis:

In the not too distant future, a mysterious disaster has brought collapse to the world as we know it. Towering skyscrapers, once symbols of prosperity, are now lifeless graves of humanity’s past pierced by the Thorns of Judgment. At the center of the destruction lies a hidden society of Revenants called Vein. This final stronghold is where the remaining few fight to survive, blessed with Gifts of power in exchange for their memories and a thirst for blood. Give into the bloodlust fully and risk becoming one of the Lost, fiendish ghouls devoid of any remaining humanity. Wandering aimlessly in search of blood, the Lost will stop at nothing to satisfy their hunger. Team up and embark on a journey to the ends of hell to unlock your past and escape your living nightmare in Code Vein.

Code Vein will be available in the States in 2019 for PS4 , Xbox One, and PC. Watch the 4th trailer below, but know that it's in Japanese.
