This has been on my radar for a while, mainly because it's being developed by Gunfire Games, the studio behind Darksiders 3, a series I have always been a huge fan of. Remnant: From the Ashes isn't a dungeon crawling hack n slash, however, but a survival-action shooter with strategic co-op. In the future, the world is all kinds of jacked up, thanks to "extradimensional" beings, who are pretty fond of earth, and pretty hateful towards earthlings. You take on the role of one of the last remnants of humanity, trying to take your world back from the monsters inhabiting it. After watching the trailer, you can see that humanity is on the ropes, using old school rifles and machine guns against what appears to be monstrous, living trees, among other messed up creatures.
You'll spend time on earth as well in other dimensions as you try to figure out what the hell these things are and where they came from, and most importantly, how to get them off of earth. Players build characters to suit their individual playstyle and fight to survive both the alien menace and the deadly environments, playing either alone or alongside a team of up to three other players. The game features shooting, melee combat, gear and weapon crafting, character progression and huge bosses, all inside dynamically-generated levels that offer an infinite number of ways to exploe.
I'm pumped not only about the horrific looking setting and enemies, but also the co-op aspect as well. Remnant: From the Ashes is scheduled to release in 2019 on PC, Xbox One and PS4, and you can check out the website here.
