In Grimmwood, you and up to 30 other players can join forces to defend your 16th century village (which, of course is located in a dark and mystical forest) against the merciless monster hordes who attack on a nightly basis. You'll have to use the daytime hours wisely and explore the forest, gather resources, find weapons, upgrade and repair your defenses and more as you keep an eye on the clock. In the meantime, you'll also have to keep everyone fed, watered and rested, as everything you do takes a toll on your stamina and sanity. Especially when night falls, and the freaks come out to play.
Every night, monsters swarm in and attack your village. If you haven't spent the daylight hours productively, you're going to realize it quickly once night falls. You've got to split up your tasks and work like a team towards a common goal, or you'll get shredded come nightfall, especially since the monsters get stronger with every wave. You can vote on every choice, or you can ignore everyone and do your own thing. The ability to log into the real life day/night cycle is an interesting twist, and it will also lead to some interesting cooperative moments; basically, everyone wants to go to the party, but no one wants to stick around and clean up, so voting on things like creating defenses verses actually defending on the village at night will have to be decided on.
It's an interesting system, and it looks like it should be a lot of fun if all the elements can come together smoothly. Check out the features and the trailer below, and you can jump onto the open beta here.
