We liked the first This is the Police just fine (see our review here), especially due to the tension and hectic balancing act that the game creates. It wasn't perfect, but what they did right, they nailed. We are now less than a week away from the sequel, and the devs have just launched a brand new trailer that you can check out below.
It seems that the city in the sequel, Sharpwood, is in even worse shape than the city in the first game. Sharpwood is a cold, desolate place, where corruption spreads and violence escalates. Local cults are gaining more and more power, as are the city's criminal gangs. The police in the city are overtaxed and underpaid, and it's natural for them to want a little something extra for putting their lives on the line, right? Everybody has to make a living, after all. However, when the cops cross the line, and criminals wear a badge, what can you do to restore order in the city? You better start figuring it out.
This Is the Police 2 is a blend of adventure and management, and there are some improvements this time around, with new mechanics that aim to strengthen both the strategic and tactical elements in the game. This time around, managing the equipment of your policemen and keeping their individual skills in mind won't be enough, as the sequel will throw gamers into the new tactical combat, and the outcomes will depend on every decision you make. Additionally, now your subordinates aren't just resources, they are living people with their own strengths, weaknesses, fears and prejudices, and you'll have to deal with all of them to keep your city safe.
This Is the Police 2 is out for PC and Mac August 2, 2018.
