The strategy multiplayer survival RPG Grimmwood sticks you in an abandoned village with 39 friends and strangers, and you must quickly organize your team if you want to survive. The problem is, people are dicks, and making them do what you want (or even deciding who is in charge) is a tall order.
In Grimmwood, efficiency is key, which makes the group dynamic even harder; you'll strategically plan your scouting routes and explore the procedurally generated area around your village, gather resources like food and gear, craft weapons, tools, defenses etc., all before nightfall. Once night falls, the evil comes out to play, and it is relentless, attacking your village and your people with reckless abandon. After thirty days, help is supposed to arrive from the outside, so it's up to you to survive together until they arrive.
The game is out now, and there's a new Blitz Mode, which is set to "perfectly extracts the game's key mechanics for smaller villages". You and nine other players are now able to play the game with a complete different approach, and the mode is best suited for playing in long sessions.
Grimmwood is out now on Steam.
