In a move that is going to bum out a lot of people, it is looking like Bethesda has announced that they won't be putting their upcoming Fallout title, Fallout 76 on Steam. Cue sounds of wailing and the gnashing of teeth.
In a report by arstechnica.com, they claim that they became suspicious when they looked at the game's beta FAQ, which went up Monday and included a bunch of mentions of Bethesda.net store and launcher for the game's Windows version, but nothing about Steam. Then... the bombshell.
According to Bethesda, "Both the beta and the game will be available on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and on PC (via Bethesda.net only)," and apparently, once the article went live, Bethesda reached out to Ars Technica and gave them a straight statement, saying, "The PC version of Fallout 76, for both the beta and the launch, will be available only via Bethesda.net, not on Steam."
Bummer.
The Fallout 76 beta launches in October, according to Bethesda, and the full game will be available on November 14th of next year.
