Overcooked was a surprise smash party game that was a ton of crazy fun. The sequel was a no-brainer, and it launches today on PC, Xbox, PS4 and Switch.
In Overcooked 2, the Onion King has risen the Unbread and tasked you with defeating them. As the greatest chefs available, it's all up to you; you must chop, boil and bake like mad, in a series of escalating kitchens that are just as difficult as making a flambe. You have to avoid obstacles like fire, collapsing floors, floating work surfaces, pedestrians and cars as you try to get your food out unburned and on time..
There's also a ton of new stuff here, with online multiplayer and 4 player couch co-op for bringing your friends into the fray, new emotes that will help you to communicate with your fellow chefs, brand new tip multipliers that will boost your score when you serve dishes in the correct order, and the biggest change is the ability to throw ingredients, allowing you to toss them back and forth to your other chefs, or even into a pan or blender, upping the insanity and, in theory, allowing you to cook and move faster around the kitchen.
There are some additional new features added in that you can read about below, and there's a launch trailer as well, so you can see how it all comes together.
- New level mechanics! Overcooked 2 sees the introduction of new game mechanics including moving walkways, controllable platforms and even portals!
- Dynamic levels! Throwing you from the frying pan and into the fire, dynamic levels will change around you, offering a new challenge to overcome as the recipes and levels themselves change!
- Kitchens! From the neon lights of a sushi restaurant to the bubbling pots of a Wizard school kitchen, there are plenty of places to cook up a storm in Overcooked 2!
- Recipes! From spaghetti to sushi and pancakes to pizza, recipes both old and new will need to be cooked to perfection (or at least not burnt to a crisp!) New recipes mean new ingredients and new equipment so even the most well-seasoned Overcooked players will be challenged.
- Chefs! Overcooked 2 introduces a whole host of new of chefs to play in the kitchen including an eagle, mouse, beaver and what kitchen is complete without an octopus!
- Interactive world map! As you drive, sail and soar your way around the map in the Onion King's amphibious air bus you will open up new areas using hidden buttons around the world
- Master chefs can purchase Kevin's 'Too Many Cooks' DLC pack which includes five bonus chefs: Alien, Walrus, Unicorn, Monkey and Calico Cat for £2.09/€2.39/$2.99
