The Final Fantasy XIV Online and Monster Hunter: World collaboration is on, now that patch 4.36 has gone into effect, and it's bringing a bunch of goodness out way. This latest update sees the game getting populated by flying wyvern, Rathalos, from FF XIV, and you can brawl with them on normal or extreme difficulty to get different game rewards. If you've been left out of the loop, wyverns are the giantic, apex monsters of the Ancient Forest, sometimes called "King of the Skies," and they use poisonous claws and fiery breath to make your life suck.
If you're at level 70 in Final Fantasy XIV and you've completed the “Stormblood” main quest, you can dive right in to “The New King of the Block” quest to fight Rathalos in The Great Hunt trial, which is an eight-player slug-fest that incorporates some interesting mechanics inspired by Monster Hunter: World, or you can choose to play on extreme, where you've only got four man teams and they throw some additional obstacles your way to further up the challenge.
If you manage to take down Rathalos, you can get your hands on a bunch of Monster Hunter: World-themed rewards, like the Rathalos Armor Set, new minions, Poogie and Palico, a new mount (Rathalos) and a brand spanking new BBQ spit.
