Epic Games just released an update last week (5.20) which added a brand new death dealer in the form of the badass double barrel shotgun for Battle Royale, and a new hero, the awesomely named Ragnarok, the Dark Viking for their Save The World Mode. Without time to catch much of a breath, they've just unleashed a new update for PS4, Xbox One, PC, Switch and mobile, with another new weapon, some new gameplay modes, and updated challenges for Save the World mode. Both updates are ready to rock right now.
The major change for Battle Royale is the addition of the heavy sniper rifle, which is an absolute nail-driver, capable of ripping through structures and flesh alike with pinpoint accuracy. The new weapon is available in both legendary and epic versions, but the trade-off for the raw power and lower bullet-drop is a long reload time. Small price to pay to blow a pumpkin-sized hole in your opponent's head if you ask me. You can use this bad-boy in the two new limited time modes, called Soaring 50's and the Sniper Shootout. The Sniper Shootout is exactly what it sounds like, a bunch of snipers posting up and throwing down, only they're using the new heavy sniper rifle instead of the old scoped assault rifle. The Soaring 50's allows gliders to re-deploy, and the battlefield has more bounce pads littered about the map, so mobility is raised all across the board, perfect for gunning some asshole out of the air like a badass.
Here are the patch notes, straight from the Epic horse's mouth:
