From Software's new action-adventure title is heading our way, and it's looking like it will be a change of pace from Dark Souls and Bloodborne, which might be a good thing. After all, Code Vein is also on the way, which should give us our fill of Souls/Borne gameplay, and although the Souls series is amazing, there is the possibility of having too much of a good thing.
The official press release reveals a bit more about the upcoming title:
Directed by Hidetaka Miyazaki, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice is a single-player game that puts players in the protagonist role of a hard-hearted warrior whose mission is to rescue his master, a young lord, and exact revenge on his arch nemesis. Players will enjoy combining features, such as vertical traversal, with visceral head-to-head battle to fulfill their destiny in a vast world filled with beautiful vistas, enormous castles, bizarre weaponry, and fearsome enemies.
We just received some new gameplay details about Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, revealing that the prosthetic tools belonging to the “one-armed wolf” protagonist can be reconstructed to unlock new actions in combat, like brutal charge attacks, allowing players to mix up their hurricane of death. Expect more details in the coming week, as the studio shows off the title at this year's Gamescom, where they'll be showing off the core sword combat and they'll be a giving fans a better look at how to prosthetics function in game, including the grappling hook and other equipment. They'll also be expanding on the resurrection technique, allowing players to resurrect themselves on the spot after death, or to deceive an enemy. There's not a lot of stealth gameplay on display in the trailer below, but it is expected to be an important part of the game.
Steve Young, Chief Revenue Officer at Activision had the following to say about showing off the title at gamescom. “We can’t wait for fans to finally get their hands on Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. Fans will get a taste of the multiple tools available for the prosthetic shinobi arm this week at Gamescom, and will be able to fully dive into the brutal, dark world of 1500s Sengoku Japan when the game launches on March 22, 2019.”
Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice will release next year on March 22 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One
