The short below was sent out via tweet, with the message, “Behind closed doors and away from the cameras, beloved former pro gamer and current Meka squad pilot D.Va prepares her mech for the unexpected…"
The short concerns gamer turned pilot, the cleverly named "D.Va," whose real name is Hana Song. Although she is supposedly living it up with her newfound status and fame, she's really sitting at home, stressing out about her responsibilities and fixing her mech while eating trash food. Before long, her fears are justified, as an enemy attack is imminent. You can see the battle and its result below.
In addition to this beautiful short (Blizzard always makes insanely awesome shorts, which makes you wonder why the Warcraft movie sucked so bad), there's also going to be a new map for the shooter, set in Busan. Kinda like San Francisco, the map has three separate locations, each with their own feel to them. Here's the description that goes along with the new map.
"Clash in the bustling metropolis of Downtown, where players will fight across a busy PC bang, flashy karaoke bar, and central light rail station (just watch out for the train).
"Contest for position in MEKA Base--home of South Korea's frontline defense against the gwishin omnic attacks: D.Va and the rest of the MEKA squad.
"Teams must fight to hold each of the three stages to establish complete control of the city that refuses to surrender its way of life to any threat."
The map is playable now for gamers on the Overwatch PTR test server, but there's been no announcement of when it will available to the rest of us.
