Dead by Daylight has rolled out some heavy hitters when it comes to killers, and usually, we can tell pretty quickly from the teaser who it's going to be, from Freddy's claws scraping along the walls, a glimpse of Michael Myers' mask in the moonlight, or the sound of Leatherface revving a chainsaw, usually it's pretty easy to figure out who is coming our way. Then, there are some that are harder to figure out, like the Nurse, the Piggy faced killer from the Saw series, or the Wraith. This is one of the latter.
In the teaser below, there's a samurai mask on the wall, and we hear a man say in Japanese, “There is no point, dear daughter. We are born to die. The more we wait, the more pain we carry,” then he starts hacking away at a woman. He gets her a few times, and he gets her good by the screams of pain she's belting out. It occurs to me, only every once in a while, that we sure are a desensitized bunch. I hear a menacing man with a sword attacking a woman, she's screaming her head off, she's clearly getting chopped to death, and all I wonder is, "Boy, who is doing all that cutting? Which of my favorite movie murderers is punching that young lady's ticket?"
In any event, there are a couple theories floating around about who this could be, and the consensus seems to be that most think it's Kuchisake, or the slit mouth woman. This is a Japanese myth about a woman who is killed by her husband and she returns as an evil spirit to get revenge. Although in most versions of this myth, the woman cheated on the husband first, which prompted him to kill her. I mean, sure, killing her is a bit of an overreaction, I'd have just tossed her clothes on the lawn and changed the locks, but she did rile him up pretty bad first. Just saying, it's not a completely victim-less crime.
I'm not sure about this theory though, mainly due to to the man saying "daughter", but what do I know? You guys got any theories? Lemme know in the comments.
