We've been waiting to get a solid look at this upcoming FPS from CD Projekt, and now we've got it in spades; 48 minutes of gameplay with some commentary over the top. Adapted from the tabletop game Cyberpunk 2020, 2077 takes place fifty-seven years later (duh) in the dystopian Night City, a fictional open world set in California with six distinct regions. Players assume the role of the customizable mercenary V, who starts fairly weak but can be upgraded using experience points and stat upgrades to pimp out the character in the game's various classes: NetRunner, Techie, and Solo. V has access to a bunch of ranged weapons and myriad options for melee combat, all of which can be modified to fit your play-style. Much like Deus Ex, there are branching dialogue options used for conversations with NPC's in addition to multiple endings available for you depending on how you play through the game.
The game is already getting a stupid amount of hype: the teaser trailer alone received the People's Choice award for Best Animation at the 2013 FITC Awards, Best Trailer at the 2013 Machinima Inside Gaming Awards, and a nomination for Best Video Game Trailer at the 2013 Golden Trailer Awards. After this year's E3 (2018), Cyberpunk 2077 won the awards for Best Game, Best Xbox One Game, Best PC Game, Best RPG, and People's Choice at IGN, Best Role-Playing Game and Game of the Show at Game Informer, Best of E3 at PC Gamer, and Game of the Show at GamesRadar+. That's a lot of hype.
