Cave Digger Is Hoping There's Room For A VR MinecraftVideo Game News Online, Gaming News

In Cave Digger, you'll be mining for riches with ridiculous "mining tools" like dynamites, nukes, electric chains and even tripping balls on magic mushrooms. That's right, tripping hard and messing around with power tools and explosives in VR. You know you're already in.

Billed as an alternative western, steampunk themed VR game, you'll excavate bedrock with hard swings, reaping the tasty rewards of that sweet earth candy by trading mined valuables for gadgets at the Trader's Shop on the surface.

The game claims to have goofy, hidden encounters and multiple endings based on the player's actions, but how the actions of a miner will take you down a different path is yet to be seen. You'll handle tools like a typical pickaxe to a protype mining gauntlet and yes, tactical nukes as well, which surely will come in handy during the Competitive Mode, where your aim is to excavate and collect as many valuables as possible to wreck the leaderboards. If you just want to play in the dirt, you can choose Explore Mode, where the objective is to play the game until you reach to one of the seven endings.

“We really liked to play Minecraft and part of the idea was to recapture similar core mining experience into VR and then develop the rest further with other ideas. We also wanted it to be old western themed with fantasy elements or alternative western," says Jani Kaipainen, the CEO of Cave Digger developer VRKiwi.

”We have got lot of promising feedback and help from the community in Discord and other channels to develop Cave Digger further. Gamescom helped us a lot too as you get to talk to your potential players and influencers from around the world.”
