With Tom Hardy's anti-hero flick Venom releasing in two weeks, we are getting new trailers and posters faster than you can mispronounce "symbiote" (here's a hint: Sim-Bee-Oat"). The newest posters are pretty cool, with one that seems to explode off the screen in a bombastic look, promoting the IMAX release, while the other is the more "Hollywood" style poster we've come to expect from action flicks.

The film is definitely taking some liberties with the character and the world, departing from the original source material in a number of ways, especially the fact that Spider-Man doesn't even exist in the upcoming film, which has a lot of fans uneasy. The synopsis is as follows: following a scandal, journalist Eddie Brock attempts to revive his career by investigating the Life Foundation, but comes into contact with an alien symbiote that bonds with Brock, giving him superpowers but threatening his sanity. Together, they must work to stop other symbiotes from infecting all of humanity, taking on the shared form of Venom.

We'll see if Sony pulls this off in a couple weeks, but I'm not all that optimistic, especially since it was just confirmed that the film will dodge the R rating and stick with PG-13 for the kids, which is a real drag, considering how successful Deadpool was with a hard R rating. Still, the director has promised to go as hard-core with the violence as possible.

Venom debuts October 5th.
