It's that magical time, where we get free games that are usually just good enough to download but not quite enough to buy, and this month is no different. Anyone who has an Xbox Live Gold subscription can get down on the action, and for the second half of September, we have Livelock (Xbox One) and the Sega Vintage Collection: Monster World (Xbox 360), and you can play both games on Xbox One due to the backwards compatible feature.
The complete list for September is as follows:
Xbox One
Prison Architect (September 1-30)
For Honor (August 16-September 15)
Livelock (September 16-October 15)
Xbox 360
Lego Star Wars III: The Clone Wars (September 1-15)
Sega Vintage Collection: Monster World (September 16-30)
Livelock is a cooperative, top-down shooter where you can play solo or with up to two allies. Your goal is to break the cycle of infinite war between machines, which is like, sure, no problem! As one of the remaining Capital Intellects, your role is to unlock Eden and revive humanity. It's available for free between now and October 15.
The Sega Vintage Collection: Monster World has ports of the Monster World/Wonder Boy series, making it your duty to bring peace back to Monster World, and you'll have your work cut out for you across these three RPGs: Wonder Boy in Monster Land, Wonder Boy in Monster World, and for the first time outside of Japan, Monster World IV! The Monster World saga features all new achievements, challenging new trial modes, Xbox LIVE Leaderboards, and recordable and downloadable game sessions!
