If you missed this stealthy gem the first time around, you have no excuse now. Mark of the Ninja remains one of the best stealth games I've ever played, especially if you like ninjas, and honestly, who the hell doesn't?
Mark of The Ninja: Remastered releases on October 9th on PS4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One and Steam, and it's packed with updates, DLC and upgrades. Let's dive into it.
First off, the cinematics of MotNR features 4K resolution (on supported hardware, obviously), which is both an upgrade and the realization of the original intention of the artists. In the original 2012 release, the in-game art was compressed to 720p, despite being originally drawn at a much higher resolution. In the remaster, everything has been re-exported in high definition up to 4K. The game already has a slick look (especially rain effects) and the art looks great, so we're stoked that it's only going to look better, plus everything is getting some overall polish, and most scenes will be reanimated, in addition to character and background enhancements.
As far as sound goes, the audio is getting a full-on remaster, with 5.1 surround, and the cinematic audio has been completely redone as well. To top it off, they are packaging this bad boy with all the goodness from the special edition DLC, which adds a new ninja badass named Dosan. Dosan is a younger ninja who gets unique items, an additional story level, and more.
This is a stellar package for only $20, plus they are showing love to those who already bought the game. If you bought the original Mark of the Ninja on Xbox 360 and Steam, there's an upgrade path to the new Remastered version for $4.99 USD (the cost of the original game's "Special Edition" DLC), and if you already own the original Mark of the Ninja + Special Edition DLC you'll receive Mark of the Ninja: Remastered for free.
Mark your calendar, it's time to stab the everlasting hell out of a ton of ninjas on October 9th.
