Microsoft just announced that Xbox One is finally getting a mouse and keyboard, and boy, will it be fun to play the more popular FPS’ the day after that. Suddenly, players you were dispatching with ease will become sharpshooting maniacs, teammates that were 50/50 KD ratio will suddenly be tearing up the scoreboards... it will be a sight to see. Long have PC gamers criticized consoles, mainly saying things like, “I just can’t play FPS’ with controllers” while console lovers say the exact same thing about the mouse and keyboard setup. No longer.
Although not every game will support a mouse and keyboard, you have to assume that first person shooters will be the first on the list. There have been rumors about Xbox teaming with Razer for some time now, and it looks like the rumors were true; Razer is going to start selling a metric eff-ton of keyboards. They aren’t going to run a monopoly though, as reports have it that most keyboards and mice will work.
Here’s what the Microsoft people had to say:
“With this new input support at the platform level, developers can now build mouse and keyboard support in their games if and how they choose. It’s important to note that mouse and keyboard support for games is added on a title-by-title basis, entirely at developers’ discretion. For all other titles, nothing changes. Mouse and keyboard input is not enabled by default for games.”
Keep an eye out for the update, which is rumored to hit in the next couple of weeks.
